Homes Needed!

Homes are needed for dogs featured on this page, however these are not always ex-poundies, and are not always in the immediate care of Rochdale Dog Rescue.

From time to time Rochdale Dog Rescue is contacted by a member of the public asking for help to rehome their dog following a change in work or marriage circumstances, ill-health, the death of an owner or financial difficulties. Whilst we do not rehome pound dogs directly to the public from the pound, the dogs on this page are usually still in their existing homes, are in foster homes, have been signed over directly to rescue or are currently in boarding kennels.

In these instances as the dog's background is mostly known or it is possible to visit and assess the dogs ourselves we will aim to help or rehome the dog by featuring it on this page.

Each dog featured will have photos wherever possible and a description of it's history and current circumstances.

Please read our Frequently Asked Questions page before you place an enquiry, this will help explain why it is only the dogs on this page that are for direct rehoming.

Please note that Rochdale Dog Rescue does not rehome to homes where there are children under 7 years of age.

We also need to ensure that if you do not own your own property the landlord has given their permission for a dog and any garden you have is fully enclosed and secure. We also need to make sure any dogs we rehome are not left 'home alone' all day and lastly that any other dogs you have are neutered.

If you think you could offer any of the dogs a loving home then please complete our Rehoming Enquiry Form in the first instance.

The following dogs are currently in emergency boarding kennels or are in foster homes under the direct care of us here at Rochdale Dog Rescue.

Hugo looked a little worried when he arrived at kennels as you can see from his pictures - poor lad was probably wondering how he had ended up in his situation.

However, his worried look quickly went and he has proved himself to be a lovely friendly boy, who is nice natured, steady (if a little strong on the lead at the moment) cuddle monster!

Hugo is now looking for a forever home of his own - could that be with you?

GRETEL

Please meet Gretel, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, female, approximately 3 years old. She is white in colour with black spots and she is smallish in size.

Gretel is a very friendly, bouncy, waggy girl who is lovely and kissy! She is a firm favourite at the kennels as she is such a sweetheart.

She loves all the people she meets including older children and we think she would make a lovely affectionate and devoted addition to a family. Gretel largely seems to ignore other dogs when she is out but we do feel she would like to be an only dog in a home where she can have all the fuss for herself!

Gretel came into our care very skinny, looking like she had just been used to produce puppies with such a sad look in her eyes - luckily she is safe now and looking for her forever home where she will be loved and cherished!

If you are interested in finding out more about Gretel please complete our rehoming form above.

ROSS

Please meet Ross, a Cross Breed, male, who is large in size (approx 27/28" tall) and he is black and tan in colour. It is thought he could have some Saluki in his mix.

Poor Ross was abandoned at the pound and faced being put to sleep but was lucky enough to find a rescue space at the last minute. He was quite tired and thin when he came into foster but has settled very quickly into a home environment.

He is currently living with two other lurchers who he gets along with fine and is starting to show his playful side. He is also living with cats – he seems a little curious as if he has never been up close to one before and is learning to ignore these. He has even been good with the ponies he has met.

Ross is housetrained and walks well on the lead. He is good in the house, enjoying a sprawl out on the sofa or dog beds and chilling in between coming to see you for a little fuss. He has also been enjoying playing in the snow.

Ross is now looking for a forever home of his own - could that be with you?

If you are interested in finding out more about Ross please complete our rehoming form above.

Ross is being rehomed through Lurcher Link and is currently on foster in Yorkshire - prospective owners must be able to travel to this area to meet him. He will be neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.
