Homes Needed!

Homes are needed for dogs featured on this page, however these are not always ex-poundies, and are not always in the immediate care of Rochdale Dog Rescue.

From time to time Rochdale Dog Rescue is contacted by a member of the public asking for help to rehome their dog following a change in work or marriage circumstances, ill-health, the death of an owner or financial difficulties. Whilst we do not rehome pound dogs directly to the public from the pound, the dogs on this page are usually still in their existing homes, are in foster homes, have been signed over directly to rescue or are currently in boarding kennels.

In these instances as the dog's background is mostly known or it is possible to visit and assess the dogs ourselves we will aim to help or rehome the dog by featuring it on this page.

Each dog featured will have photos wherever possible and a description of it's history and current circumstances.

Please read our Frequently Asked Questions page before you place an enquiry, this will help explain why it is only the dogs on this page that are for direct rehoming.

Please note that Rochdale Dog Rescue does not rehome to homes where there are children under 10 years of age.

We also need to ensure that if you do not own your own property the landlord has given their permission for a dog and any garden you have is fully enclosed and secure. We also need to make sure any dogs we rehome are not left 'home alone' all day and lastly that any other dogs you have are neutered.

We rehome within an approximate 100 mile radius of our base (but if you are close to this then please do ask us).

If you think you could offer any of the dogs a loving home then please complete our Rehoming Enquiry Form in the first instance.

PUMPKIN

Please meet Pumpkin, a female, approximately 3 years old. She is black and tan, she has a short coat and she is medium in size.

Pumpkin was at risk of being pts in a Southern pound and RDR offered to help to save her. She arrived in a terrible condition, very skinny and with very little fur. She has since put weight on and her hair is growing back and none of her previous experiences have changed her loving nature.

Pumpkin is a very friendly, cuddly and loving girl who loves to play and go for walks. She is very affectionate and she is great with children. She has been in a home environment and loved spending time with her family and would really like someone who is around much of the time.

She is quick to learn, but would need some back to basics work with her house training and she travels well.

She would need to be an only dog in her new family.

If you are interested in finding out more about offering a permanent home please complete our re-homing form above.

Pumpkin has been Spayed, Fully Vaccinated and Microchipped.

MAX

Please meet Max, a Staffie Cross, male, approximately 3-4 years old. He is black and white and he is medium to large in size.

Max is a friendly boy who walks nicely on the lead and he likes playing ball and being busy, so would love a home where he can do more training and activities - he has recently started having weekly agility sessions which he has taken to very well.

Max has been re-homed before and came back because he was showing some pushy behaviour to the ladies in the house; with other family members he was fine.

He can also be unnerved by certain people approaching him when out and about if they come into his space - so he just needs a home with a calm confident owner who can keep him safe and secure when out and about.

He is good with most dogs so could potentially live with another one but cats are a no.

Max has been with us a little while and would love to find that loving home who will give him time to settle into a home environment as will be different from kennel life for him and someone who loves doggy activities as much as he does!

If you are interested in finding out more about offering a permanent home please complete our re-homing form above.

Max has been neutered, Fully Vaccinated and Microchipped.

REG

Please meet Reg, a Cross Breed, male, approximately 3-4 years old. He is black with brindle head and legs and the most soulful eyes, he has a smooth coat and he is large in size.

Reg is a friendly sweet boy with a fun loving and playful personality. He can be a little boisterous in the kennel environment but once in a home is a completely different dog, loyal, loving and calm. He is an active boy who likes being out and about enjoying life.

Reg does need to be an only dog as he does not get on with all dogs. He has lived with children in a previous home and is really good with them. Reg is also house trained, non destructive, OK to be left home alone and he travels well.

If you would like to see more of striking Reg Click Here for his Facebook Photo Album

If you are interested in finding out more about offering a permanent home please complete our re-homing form above.

Reg has been fully Vaccinated and neutered and he will be Microchipped prior to going to his new home.

Please meet Holly, a Cross Breed, female, approximately 16-18 months old. She is black with a white chest, she has a short coat and she is medium in size.

Holly is a very friendly, quite bouncy girl who loves cuddles and she likes other dogs. Holly had lived with cats in foster - she was fine but when excited would forget her manners around them - so perhaps could live with a cat who is confident around dogs.

Holly is good to be left home alone and travels well.

If you are interested in finding out more about offering a permanent home please complete our re-homing form above.

She travels well, and is a great steady all rounder, good with other dogs, cats and older children, ignores the chickens at kennels, walks well on the lead and has lovely manners.

Judie is very friendly, loves a fuss and a cuddle too and sure would settle happily and quickly into her new home and have much love to bring!

She is currently in foster with other dogs, cats and children and is great with them all.

ISABELLE

Please meet Isabelle, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, female, approximately 3 years old. She is dark brindle and white and she is small to medium in size.

Isabelle is a steady, friendly girl who is very sweet, kissy and cuddly and she likes other dogs. She enjoys her walks and loves to have fun. Having recently visited the home of one of our volunteers we discovered she enjoyed the company of children; but not the cats!

Poor Isabelle arrived with us around bonfire night and was terrified in kennels, she is now at one of our kennels which is quite remote and has settled down nicely - but she would love to be in a home of her own.

She has recently been on a home visit with one of the volunteers and she settled really well, with lots of snoozing and television watching whilst sharing cuddles on the sofa.

Isabelle seems to be house trained, travels well and walks nicely on the lead.

If you would like to see more of cute Isabelle Click Here for her Facebook Photo Album or Click Here for a video of her enjoying a walk.

If you are interested in finding out more about offering a home please complete our re-homing form above.

Isabelle has been vaccinated, spayed and microchipped.

SPOT

Please meet Spot, a Bulldog Cross, male, approximately 2-3 years old. He is white with a black spot on his back, he has one walnut eye and one blue eye and he is small to medium in size.

He was at risk of being pts in a Southern pound and RDR offered to help to save him. Spot is a friendly, loving boy.

Spot is a friendly and lovly boy, he is very very cuddly, loves lots of fuss and attention and gives the best gentle kisses and chin nibbles.

He's good on his lead, not too strong and is quite small for his breed.

Everyone loves him, he's such a nice loveable lad, very handsome and nice natured. Spot seems to be good with most other dogs he has met at kennels but does need to be an only dog in the house. Spot is good with cats.

BUBBA

Please meet Bubba, a Dark brindle Cross Breed described as follows... "there's almost certainly some Staffie in there, possibly some collie as he has some slight feathering to his tail, sometimes I think I can see a bit of Lab, sometimes mastiff or Boxer - he's more like a small mastiff"... whatever he is he is a real stunner!

He has a slight limp on one hind leg which has been checked out and it's a slight deformity to his hip socket, probably congenital - nothing can or needs to be done to it atm but he may need anti-inflammatories when he's older.

When Bubba arrived at Lurcher Link, found as a stray, he was petrified of everything and everybody and had obviously been badly beaten but he has come on in leaps and bounds and is now very friendly and very playful but given his scaredyness, he will not be rehomed with any children under the age of 12. He is coming on in leaps and bounds and would love to be with his own loving family now.

He gets on well with other dogs and walks nicely on a head collar.

Bubba is currently in the West Yorkshire area in the care of Lurcher Link.

If you want to follow his story on the Lurcher Link website Click Here

He has been Vaccinated, wormed, microchipped and neutered. If you are interested in finding out more please contact Kaye on 01422 240168 (before 9 pm please)or email kaye@lurcherlink.org
